It’s unfortunately been a little over three years since I read the book (and wrote the review) and I must admit that my memory is not as pitch-perfect as others when it comes to that sort of thing. I do remember feeling immersed in the world of Mushishi and how each story felt like we were really getting to know the people involved; it wasn’t just a “monster of the week” jumping out and saying, “rah!” before moving on. I can see where that slow burn might not appeal to others, but for me it felt just right.

One thing I found a bit off-putting was the pacing, which while apt, sometimes was a bit too slow even for me.

Can you expand a bit on why you thought the pacing was perfect?
